Toiletry Jar or Basket - After a long day of travel, when your guests settle in and find out they may have forgotten an important toiletry item, it can be a little annoying and asking your hosts may feel like you are being a burden. Having a jar or basket of common travel-size toiletries makes it easier on you both!
A Snack Station - As a guest, you’re probably hesitant about digging into the pantry even if the host tells you to nosh on whatever you please. When you’re hosting, remove the fear that comes with midnight snacking in unknown territory by providing a mixture of sweet and savory snacks, presented in a clear jar or inviting basket, in their room or out on the kitchen counter. Go the extra mile and ask your guests what their favorite treats are before their arrival for extra brownie points. A candy jar can be a decorative and fun touch, too!
WiFi Password - Put this in a visible place in their room so that they don't even have to ask and can have their devices set up right away.
A Sparkling Bathroom - This is important for your guests. It is the one room where your guests will really notice if it is clean (or not!). Not only providing a top notch clean bathroom, but a stack of towels all their own is a nice touch as well. Keep a set put away just for guests so they always look extra clean.
Reading Materials - Having reading materials in various spots around the house will give your guests something to do when you are busy with something (like taking a shower!). Ask them ahead of their visit, what kind of magazines they like, or provide other simple reads for someone to glance through or read. Coffee table picture books are fun to snoop through too!
Extra Pillows and Blankets - A beautifully made guest room bed (or everything for a pull out bed!) is a no brain-er! What about extra pillows or blankets so that your guest won't have to ask if they get chilly, or need something more comfortable? This is a great touch to make them feel at home.
A Fan - Not only does everyone's temperature needs differ, but, some people like a little extra sound in their room when they sleep as well. Make sure they can regulate the air in their room a bit to their liking so they can sleep soundly.
These are just a few ideas how you can make your guests feel welcomed in your new home for visits! I am sure you have more you can come up with as well!
