When buying a large, rustic cabin or barn, it can be tricky taking a big, open space and making it feel "homey". Also, you don't want to paint everything and take away the rustic charm, either. Here are a few ways to bring out the natural wood, windows and beams and make it inviting.
Hang a Modern Chandelier - Hanging a large scale chandelier with a modern twist will put the focus on a beautiful rustic dining table and double as a work of art. Plus, they can help an open space with a high ceiling feel more intimate.
Throw Faux Fur on the Sofa - Add plush, soft, luxurious textures to make your home more inviting and cozy. They will also add a touch of glamour to a more plain space.
Replace Some Cabinets with Open Shelving - This will give a small kitchen the "look" of being larger. It will give a more casual feel and offer a space to display some of your dishware.
Paint Some Cabinets a Bright Fresh Color - For drawers and lower cabinets painting them in an elegant, eye catching hue will give them a fancy custom look.
Paint Your Bedroom the Color of the Sky - Doing this will bring the outdoors in and make your bedroom a soothing place to be. Or, if your cabin has more wood walls, use the colors of the outdoors to dress the room. Nice blue bedding, light neutral curtains, nicely placed houseplants or fresh flowers. This will be a place that is always nice to waking up to!
