When you renovate a kitchen, it's not just about cabinets, counter-tops and layout. There are key things you need to think about. Here are a few tips:
Use High Performance Appliances - Having good appliances that keep working for years is the best investment in a kitchen renovation. If you want to have friends for dinner, your stove working means more than how your kitchen looks.
Test an Island - Not sure if an island is for you? Start with a free standing one. If you don't like it, it can be easily removed. You can always upgrade later is you love it.
Choose Classic Over Trendy - Choose things that stand the test of time. Not something that will be out in a few years--at least in something permanent like a back splash. Save trendy for other decor items that can be replaced after a couple of years without a lot of cost.
Remember the Finishing Touches - Lamps, family photos and plants are all opportunities to personalize a space. If you want your kitchen to feel warm and inviting be sure to add a little bit of "you".
