Add Living Things - Outdoor items can change the feel of a room. Plants and flowers can freshen up a space. Add a plant that has a lovely aroma such as lavender, a bowl of citrus, a tiny tree or an indoor herb garden. Having greenery just gives a room some life.
Add or Remove Light - By switching some of your lighting around, you can change the look and feel of a room. Highlight something different than you did before, or create a mood by adding a softer light in a room. Lighting can even make a room look like a different color. Experiment to see what you can brighten or soften up in your space!
Decorate for the Season - Changing out pillows or curtains or little decor items according to the season can totally change the look and feel of a room. We think more of this during the holidays, but what about other seasons? Use your imagination to see what items remind you of what season and add accordingly.
Change up Some Color - Sometimes just changing or adding some different pops of color can freshen up a room. You can do this by painting a wall or two or some furniture items, but you can also do this by just adding some colorful items here and there.
All of these ideas can give a new look to a room without costing a lot of money. Once you get your ideas flowing, you never know what you might come up with!
