We always put organizing our home (or office) at the top of our Resolutions list. What about de-cluttering your brain? We can all use a few tips to freshen that "space" up once in a while. Here are a few ways to get you started:
Tip 1: Just Breathe - Seems simple enough, but consciously taking a moment to breathe slowly in and out for a few minutes will calm our brains and help us to sort out the next tasks we need to do. Think of it like "dusting off" your mind. Once it's cleared--we can resettle things where they need to go!
Tip 2: Just Be Thankful - Thankfulness has been linked to stress relief however, it doesn't just come easily and naturally, it takes practice. Make a point to be thankful daily. Writing or saying what you are thankful for each day will be a good reminder, or read a devotional or inspirational book for a moment daily. It will help increase your thankfulness awareness and make it easier for you to be thankful when times get rough as well.
Tip 3: Just Draw It Out - Drawing or coloring can help clear your mind because you don't have to focus on an outcome. It will soothe your spirit. Sounds like something you can't do? Then write a note or a short story or a list that you need. Focusing on a simple task makes your mind ready for the bigger ones we need to face.
Tip 4: Just Let It Go - Give yourself permission to just totally relax for a minute and not worry about anything. Most of our worries don't help our situation outcomes anyway, so to not worry for a few moments every day won't hurt any given situation either. Soak in a tub. Rest in a quiet room. If you are at work, go to your car during a break and just let it all go away for a few minutes while you listen to your favorite song. It will help you more than you think!
Tip 5: Just Get Away - Every so often, we need to DEEP CLEAN our minds by getting away on a retreat or an extended break for a bit. When we can put all our work, family and life stresses aside and just be refreshed. Sometimes our vacations can be stressful, too, but in a different way. It helps us appreciate things once again and be able to manage our cluttered and stressful lives a bit better!
