If you are planning to do some frugal furniture or home finds shopping, here are a few tips:
Do Your Research - If you are looking for something specific, do some research on that item to be sure you don't overspend at a thrift store of flea market. Some things might seem like a good deal, but, you need to be aware to be sure.
Keep Your Eyes Peeled - Thrift stores and flea markets can be overwhelming in what they offer, so you need to take your time to search out areas carefully. This type of frugal shopping isn't always quick and easy, even after you have done some research. Sometimes, something special is hiding in a sea of knick knacks and accessories.
Shop Out of Season - If you want vintage Christmas decor, don't shop during the holiday season. Keep your eyes peeled all year long for special finds. Boutique stores at times can be more expensive, but you may be able to find a more quality piece there than some other places you may look. Shops do tend to place things out according to season, so maybe even ask the owner if they have any of the item you may be looking for. Maybe they would have it in the back somewhere you wouldn't be able to find!
Watch Emotional Buying - Sometimes this type of shopping can trigger an emotional response in you ("I remember having one of these when I was a kid!") which can be a nice thing, however, it doesn't mean you should take that item home. With these type of items be especially careful of the quality of the piece and know where you are going to display it once it is home. You don't want to end up with piles of things you really can't enjoy at all. Just enjoy the memory while you are shopping.
Hope these tips help! Share this post if you know some other people who might want to have some of these secrets to add to their shopping strategies.
