If you are thinking of doing something different in your kitchen this year, or you are going to be renovating a new house you are moving into, here are 4 new trends for 2019 you might like to try:
Hot Tech in the Home - Not just in the kitchen, but all over your home new technical items are in trend. From talking faucets to computer refrigerators, to high energy saving appliances, be on the lookout for these items to appear more and more in homes this year.
Black Appliances - White and silver colored appliances are on their way out. Black stainless is in high demand right now and just black, matte appliances. Sometimes, what is popular will be more expensive. I opted for regular black appliances to keep the cost to a minimum and have some thing different. You don't always have to get the most expensive items when you want to be current in your decor.
Exposed Wood - This one can take on a lot of forms. From really light colored wood to deep, dark rich textures, wood generally can go with lots of paint colors. It seems people are more on trend to have a style that will last for years and not change in a year or two--especially with cabinets--which are one of the priciest items when you are renovating a kitchen. When my husband and I first looked at this home, we were thinking of redoing the kitchen and ripping most of the cabinets out--but, when I started investigating at the quality of the cabinetry, I decided I wanted to keep as much of it as I could. First it was an economic choice and second I thought they were a great tone of brown.
Warm Earthy Tones - Another trend is heading back to warm, earthy colors in decorating that compliment the natural wood as well. Black, white and bold blue is going out and neutral tones and grays are trending back in. Don't think you have to have avocado green carpet and rust furniture--it's all about subtle colors that you see in nature.
You can try one or all of these trends, but, bottom line is choose things that you love for your home. You never know where the trends will go next year, so don't choose something you hate, just because it's trendy. When I had my home renovated last year, I picked all the colors that I was happy with. I just lucked out, because most of these trends are in my kitchen now! So you never know when what you love will be the next biggest thing!--Jen Lush
