Massive Mulch Mounds - Having too much mulch can cause too much warmth and moisture build-up leading to fungus and rot of your plants.
Picking the Wrong Plants - Invasive or dangerous plants can destroy your yard, either by taking over or, like with tall grasses, if they go really dry can become a fire hazard.
Poor Planning - Planting too close together can cause your plants to not grow properly and actually kill each other.
Using Too Much Gravel - Like with too much mulch, rock gets hot in the sunlight and will reflect it up on your plants causing them to dry out and die or become a fire hazard.
Construction Projects - Be careful not to disturb established tree roots, or you could accidentally damage the tree which in turn could cause it to fall on your new construction project!
