Whether you are currently house hunting, thinking of selling your home or just considering getting new windows for your current home, here are a few signs that installing new windows might be better sooner rather than later.
Issues With Operation - If you have problems opening, closing or keeping your windows open (or shut) they might need to be replaced. Depending on the age and the style of your home, some older windows might just need some extra care to keep the integrity of a historic home, however, if they aren't special windows, it might just be better to replace them.
Higher Energy Bills - Have your heating and cooling bills been getting worse, even though your HVAC system is running well? Or maybe you have actually felt a draft around a window or two. It might be that your windows no longer seal as they should. Energy Star windows with a low U-factor can be a great investment for you now and for the future as well.
Older Windows - Windows typically have a good lifespan of about 20 years. If you have had the same ones for that amount of time, it might be a good idea to hire a professional for a consultation to see if it would be in your best interest to have them replaced.
Selling or Renovating - If you are considering selling your home, new windows are extremely appealing to buyers and can add great curb appeal as well. Also, if you are renovating, investing in good, energy efficient windows are an investment in keeping your home secure from the elements and others.
There are a lot of different options out there that are energy efficient and beautiful. There is nothing like being able to open a window on a beautiful spring morning and enjoy the cool breeze!--Jen Lush
