When you start to add furniture and other items to your home, some things are worth investing a little more money into and some things aren't. Here are some of the best investments you can make when you are furnishing your home:
Mattress - Did you know that you spend at least 1/3 of your lifetime sleeping? Also good rest promotes good productivity, good health and creativity. Buy a good one that will last you a long time!
Major Appliances - Check reviews and see your big appliances in person to find out what is best for you. You want your big appliances to be good on your energy bills and even better in how they perform for your lifestyle. Spending a little more now, will be greatly appreciated in the future.
Sofa & Chairs - Sofas don't last forever, but, a higher quality one will last longer. If you skimp here, you will regret it later--or just buy another sofa sooner. Occasional chairs can add character to a room and change the whole feel, plus you want it to be comfortable and sturdy for your guests. Spend a little more for a nice chair.
Dressers - Have you ever had a cheaply made dresser?! I have. Drawers break easily, bottoms come out and if you ever have to move, it can totally destroy a dresser. But a good, well made dresser will last decades. Even if the finish goes bad, if it is well made, you can always changes the cosmetics of how it looks, but it will still be that great, sturdy dresser for another 30 years.
Fine Storage Pieces - You can never have too much storage and spending a bit more on a furniture piece because you can store things in it is well worth it. A nice piece can come in handy when you move to a place that doesn't have as much storage. You have something beautiful already that traveled with you!--Jen Lush
