I have been posting all these blogs about all the stuff you can do to make your home more festive and all the extra steps you can take to do that....what about those of us who want it to be done quickly and with as little effort as possible because we have 100 OTHER things we need to do?! Here are a few tips to help your decorating to be extra simple:
Consider the "Take Down" First - Before you decide to decorate for any holiday, be sure to think about how long it will take to UN-decorate as well. Sometimes I can be all excited for a holiday, I will enjoy decorating, but, when the holiday is over--I am pretty much OVER the holiday as well, and taking everything down can be a big chore! If you don't like to decorate, make sure your take down is simple too.
Embellish Existing Decor - Another way to keep holiday decor "no fuss" is to just embellish the decor you have with a few things. Maybe just put some lights on a large house plant you already have, or just add some greenery and maybe a few red bows to an already nice centerpiece. Enhance your home with some seasonal smells and holiday music instead of adding a lot of "bling" everywhere or maybe just add some simple holiday ornaments in bowls you already have around the house or in some unexpected places to add some whimsy. No need to drag out tons of items to put out!
Don't Overdo the Table - Let's say you don't do a lot of decorating, but you want your holiday table to be pretty. You can do that, but don't add a lot of things that will need to be removed during the actual dinner! Keep your table decor to things that can stay on the table while you eat (colorful tablecloth, nice dishes, a streamlined centerpiece that allows for food dishes to still be on the table). You can also add a little more color or holiday cheer by just adding some decor to the backs of the chairs themselves. Then it would be unobtrusive to the table completely!
One Item Can Make a Difference - Remember, having just one decorative item can make a bit difference in your holiday decor. No need for several, or for an entire room to be covered in garland! Just a hint of the holidays can make your home feel festive and ready for all of your family and friends to enjoy!
