Let's face it. Having a pet is like having kids--they come with all sorts of STUFF. All those things you need for your "fur babies" need a place to be stored so all that STUFF doesn't take over your home! Here are a few ways to fix this problem:
Food in Bins and Bags - Let's face it, open bags of pet food can smell bad, attract pests you don't want and just don't look good. Keeping pet food in airtight, animal proof containers is the way to go. It's also a good idea to keep treats in airtight containers, or even zipper bags out of reach of your pets as well. This will keep their food protected and fresh, too.
Caddies to Carry - Get a few shower caddies to keep like pet items nicely corralled and stored away until you need them. Suggestions: a caddy for pet grooming needs, a caddy for cleaning needs (such as carpet cleaner for pet messes) or a small basket to keep pet meds together, too.
Pet Mud Rooms - Okay, so most of us can't have a room entirely dedicated for pets things. But, we can decide which room we will take our pets in and out from and create a command center with storage for such things as leashes, plastic bags, jackets or coats and a towel to wipe paws with. If you can't have a lot of storage in the space, maybe a hook to hang leashes or a basket to hold some of the other items.
Toy Box - If your pets love toys, chances are the toys will be spread around on a daily basis. Have a low open box for easy access for them, and a lid so that you can quickly pick up toys and put them up when it's needed.
Just like children, our pets rely on us to care for them. They like to be able to find what they need easily, and deserve a healthy environment to live in. It only takes a small bit of effort to give those things to the creatures we love!--Jen Lush
