I know I write about things to improve memory a lot, but, it is said that repetition helps us to remember!
Healthy Diet, Healthy Brain - If being healthy in your body doesn't motivate you to eat healthy, how about if you do it for your brain and memory? Vitamins and supplements don't work as well as eating the right foods do for your body or your brain, so eating right will bring health to all of you.
Move It! - As we age, our circulation slows down. Aerobic exercise keeps our blood flowing and a healthy, well working brain needs good blood flow! So be sure to do some good exercise daily.
Rest Well - When we sleep, it gives our brain the best time to consolidate our memories from the day and actually helps to organize our thoughts. If you are not sleeping well, your brain doesn't have the time to do that and then memory retrieval is harder for our brain to do. The better you rest, the better for your brain.
Brain-er-cise - Reading is one of the best ways to keep your mind sharp! Doing crossword or other types of puzzles, working on a computer and keeping a journal are also good ways to exercise your brain!
Interact - Isolation isn't good for our emotional health, nor is it good for our brain. The more we interact with others, the more our brainwaves keep moving, which in turn helps our memory.
If you are struggling with memory issues or not, its a good thing to be proactive in taking care of our human computer. It's one of the most important features we have and having it in tip top shape can not only add better moments to our lives, but, it can keep us going when a lot of the rest of our body fails us!
