This blog may be coming a little late for some of us, but, it's good to keep in mind not only when you are stuck at home for some reason, but for every day hunger pains as well.
Are You Thirsty? - Before you just into eating something, take time to see if you are thirsty. Sometimes our bodies give us similar responses for different needs. Pour yourself a glass of water and drink it. If you are not thirsty, a glass of water will help curb your appetite a bit anyway, so that is a good thing.
Healthy Snack First - Keep healthy snacks easily accessible so that they will always be the first choice when you have the munchies. This will help keep you from grabbing the wrong snack first if you can grab something better quickly.
Are You Emotional? - Another thing to take note of before you pop something in your mouth is to consider how you are feeling. Is stress high right now? Are you sad? Emotions can push us into eating when we really aren't even hungry. Maybe what you need is a walk outside instead, or make time to talk to a good friend or curl up with a book. Find another way to deal with your emotions besides food first.
Savor the Snack - If you have tried all of the ideas above and it's still not getting the job done, then have that luscious snack you want, but, take your time to eat it and savor every single bite. If you take extra time to eat it, you may find your craving stops and you can feel satisfied sooner. I mean, let's face it, sometimes, you just need to have that special dessert.
