After a time of quarantine, you may see a need to change some spaces in your home to suit your entertainment needs. Here are some changes to help keep your family happy and having fun!
Workout Room - This space can be so versatile, depending on what kind of workout you like to do! You can bring in exercise equipment and weights, you can turn the whole room into a dance studio with hardwood floors and a wall of mirrors. If you have a lot of vertical space, you can add a rock climbing wall. Whatever you choose, you can finish off the space by adding gym amenities like a mini fridge with sports drinks or a kitchen where you can make smoothies!
Kids Playroom - A lot of times we think of a kids playroom as a room that basically just stores a bunch of toys and can have little or no interesting feel to it. If you are going to dedicate a room (or area) for the kids enjoyment, go the extra mile by updating the space with some interesting paint colors, or types, such as a wall with chalkboard paint so they can be creative. Build an indoor playhouse or add a ball pit. Whatever room you have, cater what you can to the space that will be magical for your kids.
Game Room - Maybe the kitchen table just isn't cutting it for a game table or maybe you would like to add some other types of game tables (pool table, anyone?) to a space as well. Make a game room an adult version of a kids play room. Have spaces that the family can play board games. Maybe add a pinball machine or other stand alone arcade game. What about a dedicated space and TV for video games, so that the kids won't take over the family room all the time? Decorate the room with fun colors, game art and neon signs! Just think of the activities your family likes to do together and put some in a designated space for your family game room.
Party Space - Maybe after all this time of quarantine without other people around, you may have decided you need an entertainment space so you can have friends over! You can set up a room like a bar, with a full kitchen in it and tables for people to sit at and visit. Do your friends like to sing Karaoke or maybe dance? Add a Karaoke machine and maybe a dance area with a mirror ball! Of course, you will need to be able to play some great music, so be sure to have some surround sound in the space or maybe a vintage juke box! If you have a large extended family and love to have big dinners, maybe the big space could house large tables for dinners, a buffet table and a space to store special table service or dinnerware. Whatever your idea of a party is, having a space dedicated to it might just make it easier (and more fun) to host your next bash!
Home Theater - Having a home theater can be a large screen TV with a comfy sectional couch and a DVR or DVD player or it can be a room with a full on screen, theater seating and a popcorn machine, it all depends on your budget and needs. Think of your experience at the movie theater and then add what you can to make the space have that "feel". Even if you have a low budget theater room, you can hang up your favorite movie posters, have room darkening blinds or curtains, a mini fridge for drinks and a cabinet with movie snacks. If you can't have a popcorn machine, maybe you can have some room for a microwave so you can not only pop a bag of popcorn, but, be able to heat up some nacho cheese for soft pretzels or tortilla chips!
All of these fun home spaces can be just about anything you want and can be budget friendly or extremely extravagant, whichever works for you and your family. Your home should be your favorite place in the world, so dream big and have fun!
