Sometimes it seems like the long, dark cold winters can hang on and it leaves your mood sort of down. Here are a few things to help lift your spirits until Spring comes!
Keep Things Routine - If you are in a bad mood, you may feel like you don't want to do this or that. Having a good, structured routine will help get you started and keep you going each day. Nothing like having something to do to keep you feeling motivated.
Keep it Light - A lot of mood issues in the winter have to do with the lack of light. If you can get outside when the sun is shining during the day, this will help, but, if you can't (because it isn't sunny) make sure the inside of your home is as bright as possible. Some people actually have a light/mood disorder and even using certain kinds of lamps helps tremendously. If you don't have sunshine, and the light in your home is lacking, just get out. Even just being in the fresh air (even if it's cold) can help liven you up for the rest of your day.
Change it Up - In your routine, make sure you include some down & fun time each day too with something you love to do! This will keep your routine from getting stale and give you something to look forward to each day as well.
These are just some simple things you can do to help you get through the Winter Slump. Sometimes, we may need more than these simple tips and if that is the case, be sure to reach out to friends and family and let them know. Sometimes we all just need a small helping hand, too.
