Maybe this time of year your family always has a Spring Break vacation where you can get away for a week. Even if you can do that, chances are when you come back you are even more anxious to be out relaxing somewhere because the hustle and bustle of vacation wasn't so relaxing. Some of us don't go on vacation during Spring Break and still feel that longing tug to go somewhere! Here are a few things you can do to help calm that Spring Fever and keep it under control until you can go:
Plan Your Vacations - One thing you can do to help cool down that fever is to plan when and where your next vacation will be! Maybe plan a short term get away that you can get to sooner rather than later and then make a plan for that spectacular vacation where you need to save a penny or two ahead of time so you can really get away for a bit. Honestly, there are times that planning is half the fun of actually going, and planning can even help you to appreciate the mundane, everyday life you are living because it can be stressful figuring everything out. Nothing like a little bit of crazy to make our normal feel amazing.
Think Things Through - When we have Spring Fever, it sometimes causes us to do spontaneous things that maybe we should think through more thoroughly, such as, purchasing a boat because you can't wait to get out on the water, or going on a mini, unplanned vacation that costs more than you expect, so it throws off other things in your budget and it makes the next vacation farther away. Some people even take off work at a critical time which can cause issues down the road there as well. Think things through and don't just do things because you are just excited it's getting warmer. The outside of your home is going to nee more attention in the warmer months, so you will need the cash for that as well. One step thought through at a time!
Make Motivational Goads - Have some goals for you or your family to help channel that pent up Spring Fever energy! For instance, have some household things you want done before you go on vacation so you don't have to worry about your garden not being ready or plan a yard sale for extra money to spend while you are away. As a way to get your kids to go through their summer clothes from last year, talk about your vacation plans and what new clothes they will need for it! At work make a goal to finish some bigger project or task before you leave for vacation, or just make sure that you leave things behind easy enough for someone else to handle if they need to while you are gone. Find a creative way to keep your family (or yourself) busy accomplishing some small goals with your summertime fun in mind!
Spring Fever can be torture when you concentrate on what you CAN'T do instead of what you CAN do during that time. Before you know it, your fever will be coming down and you will be feeling great and enjoying life in the warm days ahead!
