If you want to have a longer life, then it is time to clean up what you eat and how you eat a bit. Just a few changes initially could send you on a path to better overall health.
Don't Shop Hungry - Grocery shopping while you are hungry (even if it is digitally) can lead to unhealthy impulse buys. Eat a snack before you go and make a list and stick to it!
Creative Fruits & Veggies - There are several ways you can get your portions of fruits and vegetables in. Find a healthy dip or yogurt you like to have with those fruits and veggies. Or you can find a mix of both fruits and veggies and have a smoothie each day. This will help you get the nutrients you need and "trick" you mind into thinking it's a treat.
Healthy Snacks Ready - When you come home from the store, clean a portion of your fresh fruits and vegetables and keep them in the front of the fridge so you can eat them at a moments notice. This will help keep you from eating something that isn't healthy just because it's easy.
Portions Count -
Pay attention to how much you eat as well as what you eat.
Nuts are high in good protein but they contain a lot of fat so put some in portion size containers so you don't just grab a jar or a bunch of nuts. Fruits and Veggies are really good for you but eating too much of anything can add extra calories that can't get burned if you aren't matching all those calories with comparable activity.
Healthy Décor - If you always had a candy jar around, maybe it's time to put that up so you aren't tempted and keep a bowl of fruit ready to go instead. Cookie jars can cause the same problems. Maybe some healthy trail mix bars would be better to keep in there?
These are just a few little tips that can help send you down a healthier road. Once you start with some healthy habits who knows where those healthy habits will take you next!
